Oils for the Holidays

Charles Dickens wrote, “Happy, happy Christmas, that can win us back to the delusions of our childhood days, recall to the old man the pleasures of his youth, and transport the traveler back to his own fireside and quiet home!”

Christmas in our house isn’t really Christmas without Young Living. Sure, we put up our tree, string our lights, and hang up our stockings, but it doesn’t feel like Christmas until we send that wonderful aroma of Christmas Spirit twirling around the house.

Growing up, we had a big rolling home humidifier that was some combination of a fan, sponge, and bathtub. We would use this all winter, but right after Thanksgiving, we’d start sprinkling in Christmas Spirit or Thieves. The warming aroma would fill the house and it made us at home.

Even today, we always make sure that we have plenty of Christmas Spirit on hand as we approach Christmas. As my fingertips cross the keys of the keyboard creating words for this article, a gentle fog carrying that wonderful smell is flowing out of our Aria Diffuser.

So, Christmas Spirit is an obvious one for the holidays, but what else? Thieves is a great blend for this time of year as it still has that nice cinnamon-clove aroma but can also help keep the outside, well, outside. Nutmeg, orange, and Cinnamon Bark are great oils to have on hand for those days when hot apple cider is a must.

So what oils make great gifts? First, we can’t forget about Frankincense and Myrrh and their special connection to this time of year as two of the first gifts given. Although we use Frankincense everyday, it’s woodsy aroma isn’t always everyone’s favorite when they first start enjoying oils. Lavender and Stress Away are great gifts this time of year. They can both help to bring a sense of calm to our otherwise hectic holidays. Finally, don’t forget about our bath and personal care lines; sometimes people need a little help in pampering themselves while they are generous to others.
